Disaster prevention initiatives

DCM is working to conclude disaster prevention agreements with local governments across the country, hold disaster prevention awareness events in local communities, and provide disaster prevention classes to nursery schools, elementary schools, junior high schools, and senior high schools. In addition, DCM holds "disaster prevention promotion caravans" to introduce the latest disaster prevention know-how and products and supplies at our stores nationwide.

DCM has signed disaster prevention agreements with 137 local governments nationwide (as of December 2020) and is working to strengthen its product supply system in the event of a disaster so that it can fulfill the role of a store that is sought after by the community.

DCM is working to promote measures to make homes more earthquake-resistant and to prevent furniture from falling over. At the Disaster Prevention Earthquake-Proof Plaza in Matsuyama City, we will strive to improve the local disaster prevention system and raise awareness of disaster prevention through various events such as holding lectures and exhibitions on disaster prevention and safe and secure living.

DCM participated in a disaster prevention event held in the underground pedestrian space in front of Sapporo Station, where we displayed and demonstrated disaster prevention goods. We are working to deepen the understanding of disaster prevention among as many people as possible through participation in such events.

DCM provides disaster prevention classes to nursery schools, elementary schools, junior high schools, and senior high schools. In these disaster prevention classes, the students will learn how to secure furniture, check the contents of emergency kits, and learn about dangerous areas in the local community using hazard maps, so that they can acquire correct knowledge about disaster prevention.

DCM is cooperating with the Disaster Prevention for Everyone Campaign in response to a request from the Aomori Prefecture Crisis Management Bureau. This campaign aims to promote the use of stock rotation as a way to prepare for disasters, and we have created a sales floor with a collection of items that would be needed in the event of a disaster to offer to our customers.
*A method of constantly stockpiling items that will be needed in the event of a disaster, by buying them in large quantities, consuming them on a daily basis, and buying more as they are consumed

DCM holds "disaster prevention promotion caravans" at each DCM store to introduce the latest disaster prevention know-how and supplies, and it held the event at 21 stores in 2020. Under the concept of "What? I didn't know! - a new common sense in disaster prevention DIY," we introduce the categories of food, living, room safety, and measures against wind and flood damage, and use displays of modern disaster prevention goods and picture-story shows to talk about disaster prevention know-how and concrete preparations for protecting life and living as usual in the event of an emergency.
